Ruiru: A section of Kiambu county residents have lauded the move by the court to extend the ongoing mass voter registration saying there are many yet to be registered.
Speaking from Ruiru town, John Kabogo Njoroge an aspiring Kiambu Senator said that there has been so many efforts from the bodaboda and the political aspirants in the area to ensure that the residents were registered as voters ahead of the oncoming general elections.
Njoroge lauded the IEBC officials in the county for the sacrifices they have made in ensuring they work overtime and as well as working over the weekends.
“Everyone in this area mostly the IEBC officials have been on the frontline in ensuring the residents register and we recognize their efforts. It’s a good move to see them work over weekends and register people on their doorsteps,” he said.
He said that the officials have been conducting a door to door registration in areas with low turnout and thus have been able to register a good number.
He called upon the residents of the area to come out in the remaining time until Sunday evening to ensure they aren’t left out of the exercise and voting saying that it is a democratic right for everyone to vote for their leaders.
“Let’s utilize the time added well by registering as voters so that we can exercise our democratic right by voting in the general elections. Let’s avoid the last minute rush,” he called.
The boda boda operators in the area have also lauded the move to extend by three days saying that the two days added previously have shown that quite a number had been left out.
They called upon the residents to register and sacrifice their time despite being at work. They said that they are going to mobilize the youths in the area to follow the same.
