Kiambu: Murdered woman laid to rest in an emotional ceremony

Gikambura: Sorrow engulfed Gikambura Village in Kikuyu, Kiambu County when relatives, friends, leaders, and general public converged to pay their last respects to a 26-year-old lady who was brutally murdered in cold blood on last Sunday, in Uthiru, Kikuyu.

Jackline Wanjiru was shot in the company of her sister and a cousin when thugs ambushed them in Uthiru.Her sister and his cousin were not hurt in the incident. Wawa or Shiro as commonly referred to, succumbed to the bullet wounds.

Leaders present during her funeral condemned the spate of criminal activities in the area. Leaders present at the burial included Kikuyu Mp, Kimani Ichung’wa, Gatundu North MP, Njenga Kigo, Karai Ward Member of County Assembly John Magua, Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant James Nyoro and other aspiring members.The leaders condemned the killing and urged for speedy investigations to bring the culprits to book.

Gatundu North MP, Kigo Njenga asked youths to shun evil ways and submit to Godly ways. The leaders urged members of the public to report any criminal activities or any anyone in possession of an illegal gun to the authority. Adding that the report will be treated anonymously by security agents. Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa said the he will ensure more police patrol vehicles in the area to boost security.

There has been spate of criminal activities in Kikuyu for the past few months. On February 22 this year, four bodies were found in an abandoned probox in Gitaru. The murders brought bad memories of brutal murder of human lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri on 23 of June 2016.

Family members, leaders, relatives, members of the clergy who attended the emotional ceremony condemned the heinous act .They urged the locals to remember the family in prayers.
